About Melissa

Melissa Agard was born and raised in Dane County and now she is raising her 4 boys here. She knows the issues facing Dane County because she has spent her entire life in this community.

Melissa has experience at multiple levels of government. She has served on the Dane County Board, in the Wisconsin State Assembly, and in the State Senate, where she became the Democratic Leader.  She knows how our government works and will be ready on day one to lead Dane County.

In the state legislature, Melissa Agard has fought for progressive legislation to raise wages, legalize cannabis, and to increase healthcare access for Wisconsinites.

Melissa has earned the endorsement of the last two elected Dane County  Executives, Joe Parisi and Kathleen Falk, as well as several labor unions and elected officials from across Dane County. 

 

​Despite being in the minority for her entire tenure in the State Legislature, Melissa Agard has been able to compromise and work across the aisle to pass pragmatic legislation to do things like expand mental health benefits, address Wisconsin’s sexual assault kit backlog, and ensure that local communities across Wisconsin receive their fair share of revenue from our state government.​​​​​
